Last September, Bring The Hope told you about Sidewalk Sam, a.k.a. the "Pavement Picasso". Sam is really Robert Guillemin and his impressive style of public art is on display this weekend at Ball State University.
Guillemin is in Muncie as a guest of the University's Center for Peace and Conflict Studies and he hopes that his artwork will inspire peace on campus and around the world.
The Center has organized a three-day event, "Paint 4 Peace" to promote nonviolence, diversity and tolerance. One of the highlights of the event is a community art project that was held yesterday titled, "Dove For Peaceful Academic Communities"
Cheers to Jennifer for passing along word of yesterday's activities. She tells Bring The Hope that the student turnout has been amazing and that Guillemin really brought the hope to all those involved yesterday. Sidewalk Sam has been honing his craft on street corners around the world. He works in acrylic and chalk, but his best medium is clearly hope.
As he says, "I love to get people involved with each other. Art can bring society together. Everything in modern live is so depersonalized. I'm just trying to personalize it a little." Cheers to Sidewalk Sam for bringing the hope and inspiring people with the art he puts at their feet.
